Today it was widely reported that the CIA thwarted a “plot by al Qaeda’s affiliate in Yemen to destroy a U.S.-bound airliner using a bomb.” This bomb, which was to be concealed in a pair of underwear, was designed as an improvement over what Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab attempted to use to blow up an airliner over Detroit on Christmas Day of 2009. This bomb was upgraded and designed to specifically avoid metal detectors.
At first glance it would appear to be a job well done by the world’s leading domestic affairs meddlers.
But like all of these instances, it was routinely denied “there was ever any immediate threat to the public.” It was also revealed that:

AOL corporate asset the Huffington Post has posted an article insinuating that Alex Jones is linked to a flyer distributed in Michigan that features a Nazi swastika.
“The flyer pairs an image of a swastika alongside a movie cover for the film, ‘The Obama Deception,’ a ‘documentary’ by renowned right-wing conspiracy theorist Alex Jones,” the site reports.
According to Mlive.com, the flyer was placed on parking meters in downtown Grand Rapids.
“Readers of the card are referred to a website to sign a petition that espouses tea party ideas and urges people to support Ron Paul. The views there come from a woman who claims to live in Grand Rapids, but listings for a person by the same name were disconnected or answered by people who denied knowledge of the flyer and the petition,” writes Nate Reens. The same official continues, “Now that we have killed most of al Qaida, now that people have come to see legitimate means of expression, people who once might have gone into al Qaida see an opportunity for a legitimate Islamism.”
This is great news, isn’t it? If the “War on Terror” is over, then we can repeal and reverse all the ridiculous police state laws that were put in place to protect us from terrorism… right?

The latest bill empowering the IRS to revoke American citizens’ passports is currently in motion. But revoking American citizens’ natural travel rights is only the beginning of this federal government’s latest drive towards a fully-fledged, collectivist totalitarian society.
Senate Bill 1813, was originally introduced by Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) and already passed the Senate on March 14 – all the while disguised as legislation “to reauthorize Federal-aid highway and highway safety construction programs, and for other purposes.”
Those “other purposes” are contained in Senate Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev) latest addition to this legislation, that allows the State Department to “revoke, deny or limit passports” for any person deemed by the Internal Revenue Service as having “a seriously delinquent tax debt in an amount in excess of $50,000.” Read the rest of this entry »

The Department of Homeland Security recently stoked concern by contracting a company to provide them with 450 million rounds of hollow point bullets. Now the federal agency is also purchasing bullet-proof checkpoint booths that include ‘stop and go’ lights.
A press release from Shelters Direct brags about how they are providing the DHS with bullet resistant guard booths. Images of the booth from the company’s website suggest the guard shacks will be used to control checkpoints.
“This guard building features a standing seam hip roof, a thru-wall HVAC unit, (2) UL 752 BR Level 3 sliding doors, UL 752 Bullet Resistant Level 3 glass and a Low]E coating. Other noticeable highlights of this prefabricated steel building include metal halide security lighting, decorative window grille frames, and a “Stop & Go” light with controls,” states the press release.
The purpose behind the bullet proof booths is unknown, but the DHS has publicly announced that it plans to increase the number of unannounced checkpoints manned by TSA VIPR teams and other federal agents beyond the 9300 that were set up last year alone. Read the rest of this entry »

Senator Barbara Boxer’s MAP-21 (Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act) is headed to the House after clearing the Senate last month. Boxer’s bill allows the federal government to revoke the passports of citizens the IRS claims owe taxes.
“There is no requirement that the tax payer be guilty of or even charged with tax evasion, fraud, or any criminal offense — only that the citizen is alleged to owe the IRS back taxes of $50,000 or more,” reports The Daily Economist.
In other words, the Fourth Amendment will become irrelevant in many taxes cases if this legislation makes it through the House. MAP-21 does, however, face opposition by some Republicans. Read the rest of this entry »
